What to Do With Your Vintage Fur
We’re often asked what to do with a fur that’s no longer worn. A well-made fur can last for decades, so there’s usually a better path than the back of a closet. Here are your options.
01 — Sell Privately
List your fur on a resale platform and connect directly with potential buyers.
02 — Remodel
Give your vintage fur a new purpose with our in-house remodelling services. Whether you’d like to turn an old coat into something smaller or completely transform it into a new garment, our experienced furriers can help.
Remodelling services start at:
Small accessories — $100+ CAD
Earmuffs, headbands, and hats.Larger projects — $300+ CAD
Custom fur teddy bears and other keepsakes.Full garment remodelling — $1,500+ CAD
Transform your existing fur into a redesigned coat, jacket, or vest.
All projects are assessed individually. Final pricing depends on the condition of the fur, design, and work involved. Consultations are available by appointment.
03 — Consign
Have a resale shop sell your coat on your behalf in exchange for a commission.
Consignment can save you the work of finding a buyer, although older fur garments may take time to sell. Before leaving your coat, ask about commission rates, listing periods, additional fees, and what happens if it doesn’t sell.
Pelliarts does not offer consignment services.
04 — Trade In
Give your fur a second life and receive credit toward a new Pelliarts piece.
Pelliarts Trade-In Program
Give Your Fur a Second Life
Have a vintage fur coat you no longer wear? Give it a new purpose through our trade-in program.
We accept selected vintage fur garments for reuse in future projects. In return, receive up to $200 CAD in credit toward a qualifying Pelliarts purchase.
Trade-ins are subject to approval and inspection. Credit is awarded at one of three levels based on the garment’s condition, material and reuse potential. Minimum purchase requirements apply.
A Note About Trade-In Value
Our trade-in program is designed to give unworn vintage furs a new purpose. The credit offered reflects the garment’s potential for reuse and is not intended to represent its original purchase price or current resale value.
If your fur holds significant sentimental or resale value, we encourage you to explore private resale or our remodelling services before deciding to trade it in.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What types of fur do you accept?
We consider vintage fur coats, jackets and other fur garments based on their condition, material and potential for reuse. All trade-ins are subject to approval. We may decline garments that are excessively worn, damaged or unsuitable for our projects.
2. How much trade-in credit can I receive?
Approved garments may qualify for $100, $150 or $200 CAD in credit.
$100 credit — minimum purchase of $300 CAD
$150 credit — minimum purchase of $400 CAD
$200 credit — minimum purchase of $500 CAD
Your final credit amount is confirmed after inspection and requires your approval before the trade-in is completed.
3. Can I drop off or ship my fur?
Yes. Approved garments can be dropped off at our Toronto workshop by appointment or shipped to us at your expense. Please contact us and receive authorization before bringing in or shipping your garment.
4. Can I get my fur back if I change my mind?
You may decline our final trade-in offer before transferring ownership. Once you accept the offer and the trade-in is completed, ownership transfers to Pelliarts and the garment cannot be returned or bought back.
5. Can I remodel my fur instead of trading it in?
Absolutely. Our in-house furriers offer remodelling services, from small accessories such as headbands and earmuffs starting at $100 CAD, to custom keepsakes starting at $300 CAD and full garment transformations starting at $1,500 CAD. All projects are quoted individually.
6. Can I combine trade-in credit with other promotions?
Trade-in credit is issued as a personalized, one-time code and cannot be combined with other promotional discounts. Minimum purchase requirements apply.
7. Is my trade-in credit based on the original value of my fur?
No. Trade-in credit is based on the condition, material and potential for reuse of your garment, rather than its original retail price or resale value.
If you’re looking to maximize the financial value of your fur, private resale may be a better option. Our trade-in program offers a convenient alternative for customers looking to give their garments a new purpose.
Trade-In Terms & Conditions
Vintage Fur Trade-In — Terms & Conditions
Pelliarts
Our Vintage Fur Trade-In Program gives eligible vintage fur garments an opportunity for reuse while offering customers credit toward a new Pelliarts purchase. Participation is voluntary and subject to the following conditions.
1. Eligibility and Approval
We consider vintage fur coats, jackets and other fur garments based on their condition, material and potential for reuse.
All garments require preliminary approval through photographs before drop-off or shipping.
Preliminary approval does not guarantee acceptance or a specific credit amount.
Pelliarts reserves the right to decline garments that are unsuitable for reuse, excessively damaged or otherwise ineligible.
2. Trade-In Credit
Accepted garments qualify for one of three credit levels:
| Trade-In Credit | Minimum Purchase |
|---|---|
| $100 CAD | $300 CAD |
| $150 CAD | $400 CAD |
| $200 CAD | $500 CAD |
Credit is determined by Pelliarts following physical inspection of the garment.
The final credit offer will be communicated to the customer for approval before the trade-in is completed.
Minimum purchase amounts apply to eligible merchandise before taxes and shipping, after any other applicable adjustments.
Credit is issued in Canadian dollars.
3. Drop-Off and Shipping
Garments may be dropped off at our Toronto workshop by appointment only, following preliminary approval.
Customers may also ship approved garments to Pelliarts at their own expense.
Customers are responsible for properly packaging and arranging suitable shipping coverage for their garments.
Please do not ship or drop off garments without prior authorization.
If a garment is declined following physical inspection, the customer may arrange collection or return shipping at their expense.
4. Trade-In Agreement and Ownership
Customers must confirm that they own the garment or have the legal authority to transfer it.
A signed trade-in agreement is required before drop-off or shipping.
Ownership transfers to Pelliarts only after the garment has been inspected, the final credit offer has been accepted by the customer, and Pelliarts has confirmed acceptance.
Once ownership transfers, the trade-in is final, subject to applicable law.
Accepted garments may be altered, repurposed, incorporated into future projects, resold or otherwise handled at Pelliarts’ discretion.
5. Credit Redemption
Trade-in credit is issued as a personalized, one-time discount code associated with the customer’s email address.
The code is intended for use toward a qualifying purchase from Pelliarts.
Credit cannot be exchanged for cash or combined with other promotional discounts.
Minimum purchase requirements apply according to the credit level awarded.
Redemption conditions will be provided in writing when the credit is issued, subject to applicable consumer-protection laws.
6. Returns and Refunds
Purchases made using trade-in credit remain subject to Pelliarts’ applicable Returns & Exchanges Policy.
If an eligible purchase is returned and approved for a refund, the amount actually paid by the customer will be refunded according to that policy.
The trade-in credit used on the returned order will be reissued for future use, subject to the original qualifying purchase conditions.
Trade-in credit is not refunded as cash, except where required by applicable law.
7. Program Changes
Pelliarts may modify, suspend or discontinue the Vintage Fur Trade-In Program for future submissions.
